I have 2 remote controlled ceiling fans in my home. The latest one was installed 2 weeks ago. It is a Harbor Breeze Fan with the following wireless switch/receiver/remote.

Hand Held / Wall Mount Control

After the fan was installed it was working properly except that when we would turn a light off in one room it would turn on in the other, or vice versa. We also had the same issue with the fan speeds it would adjust in both rooms using either remote or the newly installed wall switch.

Yesterday we took the fan down and adjusted the dip switchs on all the items for 1 room to the following:

1 - On
2 - On
3 - On
4 - Off

Before we put the fan back up we made sure the new remote did not interfear with the other room which it did not. Once everything was back up we were able to independently control the fan speeds but now we do not get any response for the light from either the remote or the wall switch and the instructions for the wall switch/remote were thrown away. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to correct this? I cannot find the directions online and was hoping to save a trip to Lowe's but if I need to go there and look at another one I will.

You should just need to match the dip switch settings for the remote, wall switch, and fan. Double check the dip switches in the remote and wall switch to be sure that they are all firmly switched in the same way that you set the fan. Sometimes those little switches can appear like they're set properly, but in fact they're not.

If everything matches, you may want to just select a different combination.

These are fans will pullchains, right? As always, first step in troubleshooting is to wire the fan without the receiver and, in this case, make sure the light still works. If it does, it is a remote/receiver issues.

Yes this fan is pull chain as well, and the pull chain works for both the fan adjustment and the light on/off. I was thinking that maybe when the fan was put back in that the lead coming from the receiver going to the fan for light control may have come loose, could this be the case? Or would the pull chain not work either in that case?

Ok, so the fan works from the pullchains when the receiver is wired, or when it is disconnected? You've confused me.

Currently the receiver is wired in, but yes the pull chains control fan/light works as well as the wireless remote controls for the fan speeds but not the light. Sorry about the confusion.

So you can get the light to come on with the pullchains but not with the remote? That means it's wired wrong.
