HI, If your other PC was a MAC, I guess it would work on the same principle as Windows, you should have a Favorites folder near your Documents and Settings directory. Just highlight all of those favorites and *zip them together and copy them to a disk, CD or memory stick. Then in your mini Mac find the favorites folder and unzip the files in there. That should do it. Sorry but I'm not familiar with MACs, but someone should come along soon. Good Luck.

You can logon to this site from any internet connected computer, as long as you know your username & password, the posts you make here are kept on the website, not your computer. You won't be initially recognised but after you first login & remember password you'll be fine

    Hi Violet,
ANY Web site is stored on a WEB server not on your local PC. All your questions and answers are stored on the server, so they will still be here. Any other sites you might frequent will also still be there with any info stored.

The one exception to this is cookies. Cookies are small text files that some sites store on your PC to customize the site when you return to it. Some things that may be stored on your local system are user IDs and passwords. So I would make sure that you know all the IDs and passwords for all the sites you have to log into. If you have setup automatic login and have forgotten the password, then you can go to your profile for the site and change your password. How you do that dpeends on the site. For this site just click the MY Profile link near the top of the page.

"DUH" okay, I think I get it...
Thanks to you all for the explanations and for your patience and understanding of very limited knowledge about computers... Hopefully one day soon, I will be able to have some lessons! ;)

OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOO - This is overwhelming for me!
Thanks Chery, but No Thanks! I am too overwhelmed  too understand this article which you sent, and to attempt to understand what you sent, (which I do appreciate though), would make me go and buy anti-anxiety medication on the black market!! :(
At the moment I am in very very difficult times, as my 15 yr old son has suddenly been diagnosed with Diabetes 1 - and so I have been in the hospital every day since Sept. 27th! Thank goodness he is pulling through, but it is a very big life change, as he is very ill.
Anyway, thanks for the lesson, but I am not there yet. :o Hopefully one day I will be able to understand articles like the one you sent! :D

I am very disappointed to hear about your son. Diabetes is a nasty disease. Listen to the doctors, and make them explain things so you understand them. He will be making some big changes in his life. It is very important to carefully follow the doctors instructions to avoid some of the complications of it.

Pay attention to Scott's answers. You may want to post under Apples and Macintosh. That way you may get fewer confusing instructions on how to do things under Windows. I hate to say this, but many of the people posting here are Windows oriented. You might do better to find a site with more Mac oriented people. What I know about Mac is so old, likely it is useless to you. It will be a difficult readjustment, but I think in the end, you will be better off with the Mac.

Hi Labman: Thanks for the kind words regarding Jordan. It really is so very very hard - he is changing like Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde-his moods are so negative, so angry, irritable, anxious, nasty, verbally abusive, etc... he has changed like day and night... I am trying to not crack up! You know, when my life seems very overwhelming I chant to myself "IT COULD BE WORSE. IT COULD BE WORSE!" - those words get me by. I think of all of the homeless people of lately... all of the hurricanes, and the earthquakes, all the pets that are all of a sudden abandoned and lost... I can cry so easily about all of this, so what I have on my plate, Jordan now having Diabetes 1,and I am also ill... yes it is very very difficult, but... it could be worse!

re: your words above, I do not understand and would appreciate some clarification PLEASE???!!....You said: "You might do better to find a site with more Mac oriented people."... I NEED TO UNDERSTAND ARE YOU SAYING THAT I WILL NEED TO LEAVE THIS SITE  AND FIND ANOTHER SITE? WHY?
Do you mean that when I get the Apple, I will not be able to continue on here on this site?! I hope that I am misunderstanding you as I am now so upset by this news... tell me I do not understand... please!! ALSO:"Pay attention to Scott's answers. Hi Violet,
Labman isn't saying you need to leave this site, but he is correct that you might want to look for a more MAC oriented site for your questions about the MAC. There is only one Apple forum on this site (I see you found it) and it has very low activity. At lot of the question have no answers at all. The fact is that MACs make up a very small portion (less than 10%) of the PCs out there.

WEB sites are universal, they will look just about the same on a MAC as on Windows. So you will have no problem getting to and using this or any site.

While there are similarities between Windows PCs and MACs there are also a lot of differences. If you ask a question and don't specify its for a MAC, you will probably get instructions that may confuse you. That's what Labman was advising.

    Violet,
Your questions do not sound stupid. I realize your level of experience and I'm trying to pitch my answers so you will understand better.

You will not have to do anything to get back here. Whatever browser you use on the MAC will allow you to type in the address of this site and you bring you here. As I said in an earlier post, you will probably need to enter your userid and password again but then you will be able to save them.

THANKS FOR THE WONDERFUL RATING DEAR. Just because I don't know about MACs and I said so when I wrote the post, you could have at least have had the respect and be up-front in saying so. And anyone can make a general statement about diabetics as you did, as it is common knowledge - stick to your dogs. Now I understand why there can be so much animosity towards you. You go behind people's backs. I really feel sorry for you for hiding behind your ego.

He meant my explaining how to transfer links of your favorite sites, but was not man enough to tell me he thought I knew nothing of MACS, which I told you when I answered and was just assuming the principles were the same. Sorry.

As far as the illness, it's hard to discover that you have to watch everything you do to include sports, or anything that over-exerts you, and have to watch what you eat for the rest of your life, and if you are at all familiar with what they call 'denial', even diabetics go through it -it's normal. And believe me the last thing they want is someone feeling sorry for them. Join a group and get support for you both so that it's better accepted by him and understood that as long as he keeps it under control he can still do OK. All young folks in my therapy class with illnesses from diabetes to cancer go through stages of denial, it's hard on the parents too. That's why they have special groups, so please take advantage of them as much as you can. I'm a therapist too but more in social work, and not in this group - a cancer patient and denial was one of the stages I went through, even though I knew about denial, I still went through it. Nobody is perfect and emotions are not a thing one can turn on and off like a light. All the best to you and good luck.

Since I don't know much about MACs, there is a search site especially dealing with all types of MAC problems, just in case you did not already discover it yourself:

    http://www.plexxa.com/s/macintosh_troubleshooting

You might find this interesting for future reading. Still continue to visit this site though.

Don't worry I took it off. You have enough to go through, as I stated before, denial will be one of the first steps, and you will have enough on your hands. Take care of your priorities first, and just put up with us without stressing out. Good Luck.
