    Erratic rpm needle
My Honda crv feels like it will die once in a while when I'm driving down the highway. The rpm needle will drop suddenly and it decelerates briefly, then it's fine. This happened a few years ago and I took it to Honda and they replaced something, I think it was a recall on the ignition.

Test/replace the Ignition Control Module and coil inside the distributor. AutoZone will test these components for free. If your car has 120,000 miles or more on it, or it's at least 10 years old, I would replace these items. Here's how to do the work yourself:

The coil was repaced 3 months ago when my car died backing out of the driveway. We couldn't get it started again. The ignition modual was not replaced. This problem of intermitant power loss happened before and Honda replaced the ignition switch for free because it was a recall item. This seems like the same thing. I called Honda to see if they have had many recurrences of the problem and they said no. What do you think?

The ICM and ignition switch are two separate components. At least get the ICM tested for free.
