Your baby should be taking about 120 ml/kg of formula at each feeding. If you could tell me how much s/he weighs I can calculate this for you.

Have you introduced semi-solid foods yet?

He has started on stage one jar food. I'm not sure how much jar food or how much cereal to feed him. Or when to feed what??

Do you have his formula under control so we can concentrate on the foods?

If so, never start him on fruits. Start with yellow vegetables first, then after a week add a new veggie flavor. You do this so that if there are going to be any allergies, and you never know if there will or not, you will be able to pinpoint what he is allergic to.

The reason you don't start with fruits is that they are so sweet and yummie, all other foods will be yucky to him and he will refuse to eat them. Don't teach him to have a sweet tooth too early.

Now as to when to feed what... Have you discussed this with your pediatrician? Some Peds prefer to wait, but my kids couldn't so I fed them anyway.

Morning... cereal mixed with a little formula, make sure it is a little runny, but not too runny. When wet it should be about an ounce of food.

Lunch... Sweet potatoes, corn, or another yellow veggie for the first week, then add green veggies. Only feed as much as he will take, usually only a couple of tablespoons. Don't forget you are going to give bottle or breast after the food.

Dinner... Veggie again, pretty much same as lunch.

Snack before bed, about an hour before, same as breakfast... cereal.

Now, remember that if you are feeding straight from the jar and he doesn't finish the jar... Throw the jar away. It will not be good for subsequent feedings.

Why you ask? Because the saliva from the previous feedings that was on the spoon that you dipped into the jar will liquefy whatever is left in the jar. If it is not liquified it will not contain the necessary nutrients for your baby. Saliva contains acid that breaks down nutritional value in foods.
