Wrong hair color
I went to my long time hair stylist to get a dye job from my medium brown with highlights, she suggested a dark red brown. It came out to be very dark, almost black looking with lots of cherry, bright burgandy tint really bad on the top of my head. I don't mind the dark part it is the horrible color that grabbed at the top, the back looks normal. I have medium short hair all over so it is extremely noticeable, especially when I go out in the light it is ten times brighter. Any suggestions to tone down the brightness? She suggest I come in and have blonde highlights and some brown lowlights weaved in, sounds like a mess to me.

Yea- it might be a mess. I think dye your hair a nice brown.
To kind of wash out the black/cherry color.
But also washing your hair takes off hair dye. So maybe after you wash it it will start to lok better?

I am considering coloring over it with a brown, wasn't sure if it would tone it down or not. I have washed it many times with dish detergent and clarifying shampoo, it has taken some of the color out but not enough to make a difference yet. Thanks for your help!

Yeah the back of it didn't seem to take as much of the burgandy as the top did, I assume it's because I had the blonde highlights on top.

Nope, no picture but if you have seen Sharon Osbornes hair that is pretty close to the color that it is.
