    How can I do this
    How can I go about signing my rites to my child away.I have a 20 month old son and I have never got to be in his life but the mother wants to take me to court for child support and I don't feel I should have to pay for a child I never got to know.not to mention she up and moved out of state and she tells me I will never be in his life but I have to pay her money.what can I do

    You have a lot of choices, but signing away your child is not one of them -- unless there is someone to adopt the baby. Since she is coming to you for support I wouldn't count on that. If you don't want anything to do with your child then give the mother full legal and physical custody and don't see him, but you will still have to pay the support (you just won't have a say in his life).

    That's not what you want to hear, but I would be shocked if you got another answer from anyone. Check the board a little and you will see this is a common question and the answers might be worded differently but they are all the same. You can't get out of paying the child support.

    You contributed to the birth of that child. Therefore you are, at least partially, responsible for the support of that child. The only way to get out of that is if someone takes the responsibility by adopting the child.

    If you want to be a part of that child's life, then fight for it. Go to court and request partial or full custody and/or some visitation rights.
