Installing old work outlet next to water pipe
I want to install an electric outlet behind the wall of my shower. The water pipes and connection to the shower head and faucets will be about 4" from the side of the plastic "old work" electric box. The outlet will be for my computer equipment. Is it wise to put an outlet there? If so, should I use a GFCI outlet?

A GFI will not be needed for an outlet that is accessible on the opposite side of a wall, even though the box is near a water line. Locating a box near water lins is not a problem, just use common sense to not have the box below a fitting that may leak onto the box.
