Replaced ceiling fan light switch - problems
Hello. I have a ceiling fan with 2 pull chains (fan, light). It also operates via remote control. The wall switch is just on & off. In a perfect world, when it was first installed, the remote would make the lights brighter & dimmer. The remote would also do 4 different fan speeds.

At some point, the light pull chain was pulled completely out. The lights wouldn't come on even with the remote. However, I continued to use the various fan levels.

Today, I went to Ace and bought a "fan light switch". I installed it, connected everything back together, and here's the current situation:

Lights: Works fine (including dimmer on remote)

Fan: Doesn't turn at all (even with pull chain). However, when I click the fan button on the remote, I can hear a bit of a hum coming from the fan.

    Any help is appreciated...

UPDATE: Solved it. The up and down switch that reverses the direction the blades turn was not all the way down. Life is good now!

Glad you got it working. The reverse switch is one of the first things to check.
