Edger sat for 3 yrs with no fuel in it because of a move. Now won't run except on starting fluid.
Carburetor is buried in the fuel tank. Any way to clean this thing out without tearing it completely down?

Umm, your carb can not be in the fuel tank. Perhaps hid behind the fuel tank, but not in it. Remove the carb and clean. Perhaps you will have to rebuild it. The diaphram could have rotted over the period of three years.

Agree. The lawn mower shop I frequent says don't use starting fluid in small engines. He suggests carb cleaner because it has lubercation. This is especially important in 2 cycle engines.

I was using it every time I had to start a troy-buit mower. A neighbor gave it to me because it wasn't working properly and he bought a new mower. Blade was bent.

I didn't know you have to "prime" it, by taking the kill bar and exercising it once or twice.
The kill bar is bypassed with a ty-wrap.

Good point I guess, when I refer to starting fluid, I should say carb cleaner, because I always use carb cleaner instead of starting fluid.
