    Weightlifting & Hair loss
Weight ifting & hairloss is there a link?? It is known that weightlifting causes increased testosterone levels. If you have the genetic makeup where baldness is present, is it risky lifting weights??

DHT is what causes the hairloss to happen. I have read forums whereby people mention they are lifting weights and taking creatine at the same time... all have had hairloss. Steroids are also known for this.

I am currently on medication for hairloss and doing all ican to prevent it. However I am uncertain if working out is going to make my codition worse.

I really need opinions here or if you know of any research on this please comment,

    Thanks for all you help

DHT is considered to be the most-common cause of hair loss. But that's about the ONLY thing the medical community knows about hair loss.

The way I understand it, hair loss that's related to DHT occurs because of an excess of the testosterone, but it occurs equally in sedentary folks as well as athletes. It has no common denominator.

If you work out, you are using your testosterone to fuel muscle growth. That's about it. If you've got the recessive gene for baldness (which leads to excess DHT) it won't matter if you look like Arnold from Conan or Arnold from Happy Days... you'll still be bald.

Might as well be bald and fit.

Well, I've read a lot about people losing their hair when lifting weights, but a lot of these people are taking protein suppliments etc A lot of these have steroid substances in them which will probably be affecting their hair. The problem I have is I don't want to increase the levels of testosterone in my body and I'm unsure if the weightlifting on its own does this.

I want to build out slightly but losing the hair just now is something I don't want to happen... there is nothing on the net to answer this question

Taking Avodart (Dutasteride) and an Anti-Estrogen such as Arimidex or Nolvadex to counteract the estrogen build up from the Avodart! If you can afford both... It's works EXTREMELY WELL! I was on it for 6 months and it grew my hair SO thick! I just can't afford it and I like myself with short buzzed hair anyway... I am just excepting it!
