Dishwasher won't drain, just installed new g.disposal.
I recently installed a new sink and garbage disposal. The new sink has a new faucet too with a sprayer where there was an AIR GAP on the old sink. I just used the dishwasher for the first time since installing new things. I left the room and when returning when the dishwasher was done there was water all over the floor and water inside the dishwasher that did not drain out! Is this because there is no longer an air gap on the sink?? Do I need one? Do I have to get rid of the sprayer? What can I do to drain the dishwasher out? Can someone help me with all these questions?? Thank you!!

The most common fault on a new installation is that the blank has not been removed prior to connecting the dishwasher drain hose.

The plug in the garbage disposal was knocked out upon installation... I can see the water draining in from it into the disposal...

Did you form a loop in the drain hose? It needs to be looped up to the underside of the cabinet then back down to the disposal drain connection

Yes... after the fact. Ran the washer again to see what would happen. No leaking on the floor but it still won't drain out from inside the washer... still leaves about an inch of water in the bottom. This is an appliance that was left in the condo I just bought. I suspect it's about 20 yrs old? It's a General Electric Model no. GSD5610D00AA and Serial no. AZ76264B

At the bottom of the inside of the unit is a screen. Check to make sure it is clean and check the hose for a kink

Dishwasher and Garbage Disposal [ 13 Answers ]

I am about to install a new dishwasher and garbage disposal. All of the instructions I can find on the internet indicate that the waste hose from the dishwasher attaches to the garbage disposal, and that the waste hose from the garbage disposal then attaches to the house's waste drainage...

Disposal backing up into Dishwasher? [ 2 Answers ]

I apologize if this has been asked 20 different ways. Next, I had the brilliant idea to start...

Disposal won't drain [ 2 Answers ]

Any suggestions when the disposal won't drain and you've already tried to plunge it?(didn't work) It's a dual sink and the non-disposal side drains properly, so I'm not sure the drain trap is the problem. If I dismantle the drain trap and discover it is not the problem, what next? Thanks in...
