Will I ever be able to Teach with a Felony?
    Hello,

I was charged with attempted second degree aggravated battery on my husband. I am on 2 years probation with no jail time. I am a graduate from LSUS and I am planning on returning back to school to get my masters in Education, but I have a felony. I have talked to some teachers and they told me that as long as my felony is not dealing with children or drugs that I can teach, but I need factual answers. I have never been in trouble before and I don't want to pursue something that I probably will never be able to use. What do I do? I really want to teach. Is there any hope for me? Do I deserve a second chance?

    Help me,
    Keziah

Sorry but we can't give you a black and white answer here. Every school district has their own hiring guidelines. So we can't tell you whether the school districts you apply to will hire you or pass because of this incident.

I would suspect that most districts will not hold a single domestic violence incident against you. However, because this was a violence issue and, presumably an anger management issue, it might be held against you.

Your best bet is talk to the counselors at the school you plan on enrolling at.
