    Are there any specific wire colors for hot, neutral and ground in 3 phase wiring? Wye or delta. For example I have seen reference to wire colors in wiring 3 phase motors.

    The recommended colors for 120/208 volt 4 wire Wye is, black, red, blue, and white for neutral. For 277/480 volt 4 wire Wye is brown, orange, yellow and gray for neutral.

    3 wire delta will use the same 3 colors for both set of voltages.

    These colors are suggested, and by no means mandatory, but widely used by all electricians.

    If the delta has the high voltage, or bastard leg, it shall be orange.
