    Counter offer a debt
    Hey Scott,
Thanks for your help so far. If you remember me, I had the summons given to me, then they made a deal of $234.00 a month for 4 years to pay off $10,000. Or, pay 60% of 10,000 in 90 days. Either deal is not good for me. I can't afford that. Do you think Chase would go for a 35 or 40% settlement of 10,000 for 3 years? That would be roughly $162.00 a month if they charge me 11% per year. Or should I try for 30%.
And can I write to them, or is it a waste of time? Or should I just call and talk to them on the phone. The lady I talked with the first time wasn't too nice or cooperative. I've read somewhere that you should not talk to collection people on the phone, but maybe in this case it is different, I don't know.
I don't want to go to court for this. I can't afford court costs. I looked at my records on this, and I paid over $1,800 dollars in a year and a half, meanwhile their finance charges were $980.00. What do you think about all this? Please help. I want to move on this ASAP before I get a summons for court.
    Thanks,
    PT guy
