Gas shut off for work - forgot to re-light w/h
My helpers today had to shut off the gas and later forgot to re-light my water heater pilot light. It's too late to call, so is it okay to leave the water heater switch to the on position until they come tomorrow to light it?

It would be safer to turn it to off. The controls are quite reliable, but no sense taking even the least risk. The first step in relighting it is to tun it to off.

Thanks. I thought I should do that.
BTW - I have a yellow lab, 10 yrs old. She's wonderful, but defiant and independent! "you're not the boss of me!"

I have a Hampton Bay Fan that has a fan, upper lighting and lower lighting with a remote model UC7078T. The remote works for the fan and lower lighting but not the upper lighting. This means the remote and fan are on the same frequency. I've confirmed that the bulbs are all good. Can't find a...

Main Shut-Off Valve doesn't work! [ 7 Answers ]

I was recently trying to replace the washer shut-off valve and went to close the nearby hot and cold water shut-off valves in the basement so that I could sweat the pipes. Every valve I tried turning off, water kept trickling through. I figured those would have to be repaired/replaced as well, so...
