    Concerened about a lump
I am a 17 year old male, and about a month ago, found a lump behind my jaw, and below my ear, on both sides of my head(although it is under the surface, you can't see them, only feel them). They are sometimes very painful, and sometimes not as much, but more of an ache. They are both hard, and do not move. (I also have two ganglion cysts one on each wrist) I went and saw my doctor today about my ganglion cysts, and brought up the lumps, he felt them very quickly, and said that they sebaceous cysts, and that there was nothing that he could do. My main concerns are that he didn't take a good look at them, and that I was looking for some information on the internet, and it said that sebaceous cysts were movable, where as these aren't. Any ideas?

Not all sebaceous cysts move-depends on the skin/flesh around them. I find it hard to believe that they are sebaceous cysts, I feel that what you may be describing is the projections from the base of the skull... occipital condyles.

The doctor does not seem to be fully convinced that there is a problem-I'd go see another doc for a second opinion-especially if they hurt.

Well, I recently came back from seeing another doctor, one who will remove one of my ganglion cysts on my wrist in a couple of weeks, and he told me that they were swollen lymph nodes, and that that was it... now I'm just sort of confused.

He probably only checked them quickly because he get's these kind of symptoms on patients all the time and probably knows it's nothing to worry about. If you think that they are moveable and should be moved go back and tell him that. But they do just sound like cysts and you shouldn't stress about them, kk? X
