    Pregnant Brides Maid
My fiancé and I have an April 5, 2007 wedding planned. We asked his sister if she would be a bride's maid in the wedding and she said yes. Just this past weekend she informed us that she is pregnant. They were not trying, it just happened (which was a total shock to them since they needed help with fertility drugs with the last child) The issue is this: She is due April 11th. She has already said that she would graciously step down from being a brides maid. We told her no, that we still wanted her to stand up. Well, I got thinking about this more and more. What happens if she has the baby early? The last time she was pregnant, she was told not to stand on her feet very long at the end of the pregnancy. I already have the dresses picked out and I don't think that she would be able to wear one of them.

I love my fiance's sister. I want her to be up there with me but I'm not sure about it.

Would it be wrong of me to tell her that we will have someone else stand up in her place? If so, how would you go about telling someone?

    Any advise would be wonderful!

Since she already offered to step down, it won't hurt her feelings if you change your mind and ask her to. In fact, it may be a huge relief to her!

Just tell her what you wrote here. Say, "I love you and would like you to be a part of it, but the more I thought about it the more I realized it would be better for you not to have to worry about it."

Why not ask her to read a passage or a poem during the ceremony? She might only stand for a moment, but if she goes into labor or can't be there, the ceremony can be changed enough to remove her reading.
