I am completing a bar unit which is using an existing drain waste system. I have seen a thin walled brass drain pipe at my local plumbing store and would like to use this but when I have tested it I cannot get a good seal and continually get small leaks.

The pipe has a threaded collar at one end and seems to have a compression fitting at the other (small nylon collar).

Does this need to have a flange? The compression end always seems to be loose and will simple slide out if pushed and won't make a tight seal like I have made with copper supply lines that have compression fittings.

Since you haven't specified what the brass tail piece is going to be connected to and its size and the material I can't help much. I don't have the details I need to make a recommendation. You're making me guess but if I had to I guess here goes. The brass tailpiece is 1 1/4" connecting to a 1 1/2" PVC "P" trap. If that's the case you have the wrong size nylon compression washer. You are trying to make a 1 1/2" washer work where you should be using a 1 1/2" X 1/14" washer to make your connection. Did I guess right?? Cheers, Tom
