    Two 80s kids movie titles
    Hello,

My memories of these films are very vague. I saw them on video in the late 80s.

    1. I think it's Christmas. A girl (the main character) works in a toy shop. For some reason, she ends up in a dream-like world. My memory is telling me she fell off a ladder but it could be making stuff up. There is a 'baddy' who captures people, puts them in a big cage and makes them breathe in (green?) smoke to turn them into no-brain slave-type monster people. The girl escapes with others by pretending to breathe smoke and doing her best zombie impression. Then I think she wakes up and it was all a dream and it's Christmas. I think the saving of a sibling is involved somewhere.

    2. There is a weird fantasy castle/big old house (I can remember it from the cover of the video) and for some reason there are kids having an adventure - I think it's two brothers but could be wrong. Anyway, I have NO idea what they're doing. But also, there is this guy - not exactly a baddy. He reminds me of Howard Stern/Zaphod Beeblebrox. He has a sidekick who is male, fairly old, short, weedy, think he has glasses. The only bit of the film I can remember for sure is that the Howard Stern fella can do magic and "steal" people's voices when he wants them to shut up (i.e. their lips move but no sound comes out).

Does anybody know what I'm talking about? They've been driving me crazy for years. Muchos gracias in advance.

OK, I've answered one of my own questions. Film number 1 is Babes in Toyland (1986) with Drew Barrymore (!) and Keanu Reeves (! ). What a weird film. It seemed so normal back in the day...

Still stumped by the other one though.

    :)
