    The installation is basically the same for a plain floodlight but you do need to know how/where to point the sensor. If you point it directly into the sun it will lileky burn out the eye prematurely. How about those instructions?

    Many Photo cells have 3 wires, black and white is power in, and connect light to red, and connect to the white also. It usually points north. Make sure the amperage/wattage rating will handle your flood light. You can use a photocell with a contactor, to handle many lights, or a heavier load.
