    Maryland rights for custody
Hi I'm hoping somebody can please help me, I have made so many phone calls and it takes me nowhere.

Here it goes~ I broke up with my ex boyfriend because I could not take his anger problem anymore. Well two days later I went out to run some errands and left my 14 month old son with my mom. Well my ex tells my mom that he is going to take the baby over his mom's for a little while and leaves. Well I come home and there still is no sign of my ex. Well the police knock on the door and say that my ex filed a child abuse on my mom because the baby had a mark on his back. Well the mark was just because he fell asleep in his high chair and we told the cops that. Well the cop warns me that in an hour or so another cop will be there because my ex filed an expartay on me and the police were coming to make me leave the house. Well the cops show up and make me leave. So now my ex has our son and will not let me see him. They threw the child abuse case right out. We go to court for the expartay and the judge denied it and threw it out. Well I keep calling my ex to get my son and he would not let me see him. Well one day I called him and he answers the phone screaming at me and saying that he knows where I live at now and I better watch my back. He then posted pictures on the internet with guns pointing at my head and saying he can't wait. Well I went and filed an expartay on him. Well I won mine and they put joint custody on the papers. Well now I take the cops over there all the time and he just tells them no she's not seeing the baby or he won't even answer the door. We both have lawyers for custody but it's going to take a while to just get into court cause we have to do all the sit down hearing and stuff to see if we can agree on something. I feel that there are no rights in Maryland for mothers. I have not seen my son in just about 3 months and my heart is breaking. I try everyday to see him and I can't even get ahold of my ex, he keeps the baby out at all hours of the night. I really need some help here. I even looked some laws up in Maryland and it says that if the parents were not married that the child is the mothers until paternity. Well howcome nobody does anything about it. If somebody could please help me out I would be very thankful. We even filed for emergency custody and it got denied.

Unfortunately, your case must be processed through the courts. That's how the system works. I don't know if you can do this, so perhaps someone else can give you more information. But, if you were to call child protective services, and they found your ex to be negligent, there is the possibility that you could get your child back sooner. Anyway, that's speculation at best, hopefully someone can confirm or offer better advice. I am sorry to see you are in this terrible situation.
