    A small grey box appears above the taskbar when I press a lock key
    I have no idea what I have done but now whenever I click either caps lock, num lock or scroll lock this small grey box appears



    Could someone help me get rid of it

    WindowsXP doesn't have standard functions that allow you to do that. So, I assuming you have a keyboard that came with installation software? If so, have a look at where it is is installed. Try Start -> All Programs, it should be there.

    If you can't find it, and it did come with installation - try reinstalling the software then looking for it again.
