    If it's a new disk that your operating systems ISN'T installed on (and you have windows), you shuold be able to go into My Computer, see the new disk there, right click it, and go to format.

    If it IS the disk that windows is on, the best way would be to just run the windows installation again, if you plan on reinstalling it. You should get an option of what you want to do with the hard disk when going through the setup. You choose to format rather than leave the filesystem intact. Formatting with NTFS instead of FAT will give you better performance and security.

    This was geared towards windows XP - if you've got a different version, let us know.
