I don't know, but personally it sounds like this doctor went overboard with treating... but it got you pregnant though.
I have irregular periods as well and my doctor treated me with Prometrium (progestrone) and prenatal vitamins... that was it.
You should be taking the folic acid and iron, as many women are prescribed this to take throughout their pregnancy (as I was)... although I don't know why your doctor is having you take the pill twice a day. Most women are to take it only once a day. I had blood tests done during my pregnancy and showed that my iron level was too low so that is they only reason my doctor increase my does to twice a day (but carrying twins may have something to do with it)... the calcium and any other vitamins you need should be covered by simply taking a prenatal vitamin once a day.
Unless your doctor considered your pregnancy "high risk" which I don't see why you shouldn't be able to travel OR why she stitched you. Unless there are underlying medical conditions you have, none of those things should have been done, that I know of.
