    Violation of Probation
My son was issued a warrant for his arrest in the state of ny for a probation violation. He failed to go to see his probation officer for two months. Will he go to jail for the duration of his probation? Or will they give him another chance at probation?

Two months? It sounds to me like they already gave him a chance.

He's now being sought. That's what a warrant is for.

He will likely go back for the remainder of his original sentence plus loose any option for "time off for good behavior", then again, that depends on how the judge sees things.

Sorry. His best option now would be to turn himself in rather than be confronted in public/work/home.

He turned himself in. He didn't wait for them to come get him. He found a job, but his PO leaves the office at 4pm and he doesn't finish work until between 5p-6p. When he found out about the warrant, he had me drive him there and turn himself in.

    Hello Annette:

They may give him another shot, but they'll probably make him spend some time in jail. He'll do better if he has a lawyer.

Yes they will most likely make him serve some jail time to "teach him a lesson". It does not matter about when his job ends, he needed to take off eary to see a PO, this was important, he made a choice, he could have called and asked the PO what to do.
This is not an excuse the court will care about.
