I read a romance book in the mid 80's about a woman named catherine and the man is jon. He is a pirate but also lives in the colonies. She is from england and running from a forced marriage. Somehow she is on his boat and get pregnant.and lives with him amaerica. The next book she goes back to visit family in england and again she is being forced to marry someone. Jon comes to find her and he is put in prison. He breaks out and sails again back to america . There is a battle and the boat sinks just him and her in a life boat she is pregnant a second time and ends up going into labor. Jon believes the baby is by someone else but is infat his. The land on a deserted island. And he ghas to take care of cahterine cause she get sick. Does anyone now the name of this book or the author. I'm almost positive it was written in the early to mid 80's.

I can recommend a great series by Diana Gabaldon. It starts with Outlander and has several sequels. It has pirates, time travel, Scotsmen and all kinds of fun.
