    Old sci-fi alien
    In the 60's I saw an old (even then) sci-fi movie that had an alien that looked like a stomping water tower. Gave me nightmares about water towers. What's the title?

    I think you're describing a movie called KRONOS. It's available on DVD. The aliens look like cubic metal-stamping machines on cylindrical legs. Although the aliens are actually cartoon-art animated, it's well done and very atmospheric. I hope this answer helps in your search.
