    Craftsmen lawn mower
    My lawn mower will not start;
    I changed out the oil... put new spark plug and new gas.
    Usually I can put a little gas in the carb. And it will start.. but now even that doesn't seem to work. Mind you it tries to start just seems it's not getting enough gas.
    Question 1: can I flood it by putting too much gas in the carb.
    Question 2: if it is carb. Is it something I can do myself?
    Thank you,
    Frustration

    Trying to start is indicative to having spark when fuel is forced fed. You probably have compression too. Next stop is fuel.

    Go to www3.sears.com and get the diagram off the carb off the website. They may also have a carb rebuild kit $10-$15.

    You can also go to your favorite lawnmower repair shop and ask/pay for an engine breakdown and get the kit there.

    As long as you don't lose little parts, you'll be OK. I did a carb on an 1982 car and tere was more than 120 parts. There is likely a half dozen on a lawn mower.

JD Lawn Mower-Mower Disengages While in Use [ 1 Answers ]

Old JD ride-on, I just bought it. Engine runs great, idles a bit fast. Mower cuts for a while (up to 5 minutes today), then blades stop turning (engine keeps running fine). The PTO switch doesn't move (stays in ON position). I can turn PTO switch off then on again, and mower will engage again...
