Hampton Bay ceilng fan remote controls
How do I change the codes in my hampton bay ceiling fan remote control? We have two of these fans both with remote controls. Both fans respond to both remote controls. I have changed the remote code in the hand held remote unit; but how do I change the remote code inside the fan unit its self? I couldn't figure out where it comes apart to access the remote unit inside the fan.

I have typically found the receiver in the housing that is up against the ceiling... or the uppermost housing if you have a rod that the fan hangs from.

    Your fan
Hey Kat: I'm actually searching for an answer to my Hampton Fan conundrum!
Anyway, the receiver, typically located in the "canopy," against the ceiling, has 4 "dip" switches, just like the remote. To stop your trouble, change one remote to a code different from what it is--make a note of the changes you make! Then, change the dip switches of the receiver to match those of it's remote. This will work; the fans will no longer be speaking the same language.
PS: If the receiver isn't in the canopy, it's a good bet that it's in your attic--if you have one. Because of the small size of my canopies, I had to put mine up there.
    Good luck!
