I have a 40x20 addition on the back of my house. 1/3 of the roof is a flat roof the other 2/3's has a peak. The inside ceiling under the peak is wood that has been stained dark, there is drywall over the flat portion... the problem is where the peak is. On hot days, a day or two after it rains the ceiling will drip water. We had a lot of rain early last week, then on on Sunday it was hot and humid. Outside it was over 90 and humid, inside probably between 76-78F. This problem started last year and since the roof was quite old I had the old one torn off and a new one put on. (2 layers on the old one) This does not happen over the flat part, just over the raised area. I wiped it off as best I could but it happened once or twice when no one was home and it dis-colored the wood a bit from the water damage. I thought at first it might be a condensation issue but we've had plenty of hot and humid days with no dripping. It appears to happen only after a good soaking rain.

I've called the contractor who put the roof on and I'm waiting for him to get back to me. Is there anything specific I should be asking him about?

Since the wood was not discolored prior to the new roof being installed, do you think this is something I can hold him accountable for? If not, is there anyway I can fix it?

Id Have To See The Pic Of The Roof To Answer That, All I Can Tell You Is Trust The Contractor To Find It, Water Leaks Are Tough To Trace Out,
Without Tearing Into The Sheetrock, You May Try Use A Garden Hose And Try And Single Out Some Areas In Question

It leaks right at the peak of the roof and it does not leak while it's raining... only when it gets real hot a day or two after it rains. I was thinking that the heat was making things swell and forcing the water out, but the roof is less than a year old, there should be no water under the shingles.
