    Theft under 5000$ Shoplifting.
Several days ago I was arrested for a theft less than 5000$ (sum was nearly 130$) in a store. My court day will be in 2 weeks. I am really scared and plead my guilty. I am 20 and I am not a citizen of the USA, but I am here legally. Actually my viza expires in 1.5 month and I will leave in 4 weeks. It is my first offense. What are punishments for such crimes? What should I expect?
    Any feedback would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

Pay back the store and most likely a fine.

Yeah right its not that easy the district attorney will charge you with grand theft anything that is over 400 dollars is grand theft its felony you could possibly face prision time even if your visa expires. Plea bargain with the da don't plead guilty right away see what they will reduce posibly

    Actually you're only semi-right here.

Anything over $400.00 is considered a felony for any type of theft other than shoplifting. Shoplifting is considered a felony for anything over $300.00.
