It can take years sometimes, after a couple of years you can say you are having a problem, not a few months.
But it is never a bad idea to have a complete medical checkup for you and your husband also.

When was your last medical check up? Your husbands? Have you ever been on birth control? If so, what kind and for how long.

Without ever being on birth control it can take healthy couples at least a year of actively trying to become pregnant.

Just because he has had children in the past, it doesn't mean that he is still good child bearing position. Time changes things sometimes. Not saying that he is for sure the reason, just saying not to rule it out. Since you have only been trying for about 6 months now, I wouldn't be worried. It takes most healthy couples up to 12 months of trying to conceive naturally, before it is suggested to see your doctor about your fertility.

Look for signs of ovulation and try timing it. It could also help to wait a week before having sex, it helps the sperm count build back up before trying again.
