    Sick Daschund Puppy?
    Hi there,
I have recently purchased two daschund puppies for my daughters for their birthdays.
The puppies in questions are only 4 weeks old. Their mom lost a lot of weight and got the runs... the vet advised that the mom can no longer feed them.
The youngest out of the two has had the runs since I got her, I took her to the vet and she was dewormed and gave her milk-o-pup to supplement her. She still has the runs, is not taking any solids like she did on the first day. Her appetite has decreased, she lacks energy and just sleeps all day.
Her sister is more robust, she had a fantastic appetite, I dewormed her yesterday as well and today she has started with the runs and has lost her appetite.
Could the deworming have caused them to loose their appetite? What is the appropriate amount of feeds a day they should have a day? Should I be worried about their runs and lack of appetite?
    Advise.
    Thanks,
    Tracy

Hi I would be keeping in touch with the vet everyday,at 4 weeks old they don't have any defenses when their sick. I think you should insist that the vet take the sick pup for a couple days,we had to do this with our puppy,he was dehyrated and had a bloody, loose stool and it turned out he had [coxitia]not sure about spelling, he came home in a couple days and he was a lot better.

This is a bad situation. I hate to advise emergency vet visits over the weekend, but it may be the puppies only chance. You could try to keep them hydrated with it think it is Pedilyte or even Gator Aid until Monday.

My dog may have gotten a vitamin that was dropped and never found-does anyone know if that's a problem? He's 13 and usually active but he's been sluggish and now not eating. I don't know if I should take him to the vet.
