I have a slab leak on my kitchen drain. It is copper pipe. I was wondering if there are other methods available other than ripping up the concrete. Is there a pipe restoration possibility?

I understand (from a contractor) that there is a tool to locate the leak, to keep from tearing up the wrong place in the slab or at least to narrow down what to tear up. I do not know the name of this tool or device, sorry.

There is a way, but it may not be economically reasonable...

It's the Fernco Pipe Patch, and if you search on YouTube you'll see some very excellent videos... it can do amazing stuff.

However, I was quoted around $6k for a really easy patch. It was a lot cheaper (a LOT cheaper, since I did it myself) to just knock the foundation out and replace the pipe.

Depending on the size of the drain it might be relined,( see Fernco link) without breaking up the slab. However, we use Slueth to come in and locate and bare a slab leak. They locate the leak, jackhammer up the slab, dig down to the leak and bag the dirt. Then the plumber can come in and replace the faluty piece. Expect to pay over 250$ plus the plumbers labor to repair a under4 slab leak. Good luck whatever you decide to do. Tom
