1992 Acura Valve Cover Gasket *urgent*
Hey, Rego here, I've got a 1992 Acura Vigor GS that needs the valve cover gasket replaced, was wondering if anyone could tel me how this is done, or direct me to a site with a how to? I have a relative idea about taking the bolts out diaganolly, but that's about it.

    Many thanks

Remove cylinder head cover bolts and cover; then, replace rubber seal and spark plug seals. Torque cylinder head cover bolts to 7 ft.-lbs.

Thanks tx, there's yet another question, I've replaced the valve cover gasket but now the engine is running hot and the check oil light keeps coming on, have any idea what that could be? :/

. Check oil level. If it's anything more than the oil level, I would take the car to Honda for diagnosis. It may be a bad oil pump or other serious internal problem.

. If the antifreeze hasn't been changed every two years, there could be corrosion or mineral buildup. It's not uncommon to have to replace the radiator.

Obviously, the oil light going on is the potential show stopper.

Thanks again, yet could it be possible that some solvent got in when I cleaned the gunk from the sides?

I don't think that would explain why the oil light is coming on. You might want to check the oil sender unit (and connection). It would be wise to attach an oil pressure gauge, to verify the engine is not facing a major overhaul. Don't ignore an oil light coming on.

If you have a sludged up engine, look into Auto-Rx. It will safely clean a sludged up engine. To prevent sludging in the future, use a full-synthetic 5W-30 engine oil; e.g. Mobil 1.

Will do, yet how can this happen if it was running perfectly fine prior to replacing the seal?

Also is it possible something got stuck?

Good question. Does it go on every time you start the engine?

Finally gave in and went to a local mechanic. He says it's either that debree got caught in the screen or the oil pump is dying. I'm going to test to see if it's the oil pump, and if it is, the only place that can repair that is the Honda dealership:eek: I'll check back with results
