    Programmable Thermostat, Major Temperature Fluctuations
We installed a NOMA Programmable Thermostat yesterday and are having problems with current temperature reading fluctuations. Watching the thermostat this morning the current temp went from 17.2 to 23.4 to 19.6 and back down to 17.4 all within a couple of minutes.

Does the thermostat need time to acclimate? Is the current temperature reading affected by something that could have gone wrong during the installation? Or, is this just a case of a faulty thermostat? We simply replaced an old levered thermostat that's on an interior partition wall in the house away from outside doors, heating vents, cold air returns, etc.

First I would recheck the wiring on the thermostat and make sure it is wired the same at the furnace or air handler. I would also check the amp draw through the thermostat during this period of variation (you could have another problem). Good luck ,Mike
