    Orthognathic surgery
I was born with a Cleft Pallet (inside my mouth, so its not noticeable unless I open my mouth)

I been to many dentist and they all recommend I do orthognathic surgery. I have a Small upper jaw I think. They said if I just get braces my teeth will be straight but just end up shifting back again.

    My questions are.

    Is this surgery worth it?

    Is it very painful?

    Is it safe?

Can the shape of your nose really be changed if they mess up?

Ty. Any additional info you would like to add would be nice.

Only you can answer if you think this surgery is worth it, no one else can answer that. Being in this profession, I do know the benefit in orthognathic surgery (depending on your specific case, of course) and yes, Im sure your orthodontist is correct when he tells you fixed braces are a temporary fix. You need to trust your instinct, and yes all surgery carries its owns risks. Talking to your Maxillio facial surgeon is your best course.
