HONDA Civic 96 EX WON't start mystery!
One day I was driving on the highway, I heard a really loud sound, that was followed by jerking as if I was running out of gas. But I had (half a tank). I loss power and I had to pull over. I started it and it made a similar noise again.( like it was choking) and then it cut off.. every time I tried to start it up after that it got worst... Now I hear the engine turning but I get nothing... AAA towed my car to my girlfriends house I'm 500 miles away from home and I don't have much money. I've heard it could be a lot of things, 1) Could be a fuse or relay. 2) Could be the starter(then why did the car cut off on me while I was driving, noises) 3) fuel pump. 4) gas cap pressure( I don't know about that) 5) car has 257k miles its just time to go.

In the past I had a ignition switch go bad and it wouldn't start. But when I put the key in the ignition nothing happen.. that happened around 215k.

    Need help asap... thanks

    Fast Help

. Did your timing belt brake?
. Run through the tests outlined in sections A and B below:

    https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/cars-t...das-46563.html

. Does the Check Engine Light stay on, when you turn the ignition switch to Position II?
. Test all under-dash and under-hood fuses with a test light or multimeter. Here's how:

. Check for codes, using a scan tool.

Just because the timing belt was recently replaced doesn't mean it was done properly. If the timing belt tensioner wasn't installed correctly, the belt may be allowed to move (jump time) and make the sounds you've described.

Does the engine have a different sound while cranking than it did before?

When I stick my key in the ignition in the on position check engine light comes on, then turns off I hear the fuel pump, and I hear main relay click. I've checked all the fuses again
