    Wireless router
I'm having difficulty installing my wireless router Linksys WRT150 N. I can't get beyond the password screen even though it is already encrypted on the screen. Customer help couldn't help me and neither would comcast since it's not their product.

Use the installation CD that came with the router, it will take you through step by step.

If you don't have the CD, the manual may say the default username and password

If you don't have the manual, www.routerpasswords.com contains the default username and passwords for most wireless routers. You can find more sites like the one above by doing a Google search for "Default wireless password"

I have been using the cd, but on the password is where I get stuck. It wants me to type a password it already has. I type admin, in lower and upper case letters and nothing. I get the same screen.

I've always found Linksys support great. If you are using the defaults try Admin as the user and leave the password blank.

The last stages of installation has a password screen. There is no user name. If I type admin, or leave it and press yes, I get the same request to type a password. I go back to this same screen.

Did you try the default password listed for your router on that website?

If you did, and it didn't work, then on the back of the router, there should be a very small hole with a button inside to reset it to defaults (you'll need a paperclip, or something very thin to fit in there). I would try that, then try your CD again.

What brand and model is your router?

Ok, I was able to use the default password by enabling dial up connection. I now have to get IP address and other #'s. I think I'll look into comcast website for this. It's WRT150N

The IP should be automatically detected from the Comcast modem. You will need DNS and default gateway info though again, that's usually automatic.

Ok, I ended up returning the router after all. How do I delete this question from the list?
