Hi ladies,

Im excited to have found this site to able to ask my question and to possibly help calm my fears.

Im 38, 2 children 9 and 2 , married, not on and BC.

My periods were always regualr 28 days and lasted approx 4 days... starting Jan/07 my periods starting coming a few days late , Feb a little later until last month it iwas 2 weeks late. Im fine with that because who likes getting that thing anyway!

So my last period was 2 weeks late , it was noraml flow lasted the 4 days and then aboput 10 later I started spotting pinky red brown... I thought it would go away but hasn't and its been almost 2 weeks now with no change in color going from brown to bright red to pink and also passing clots.

The spotting doesn't require a pad or anything it only show when I wipe or strain to go number 2.

My hubby and I did do the deed 2 or 3 days before this spotting started not sure if maybe that had anything to do with it. Hate to say it but we don't do the deed very often which is fine with both of us... but we were out havbing some drinks with friends that night and one thing led to another LOL.

Anyway I can get in to my GYN until the fall YIKES! I am going to see my family dr tomorrow but in the mean time I'm terrifed this could be something terrible like cancer or something.

Oh and I have no pain or cramping what so ever... if it was something terrible wouldn't I have some sort of cramping or pain?

Fluctuating hormones can cause bleeding in between periods. Here are a few other causes :

-Abortion
-Hormonal fluctuations
-Beginning or stopping oral contraceptives or estrogens
-Low thyroid levels
-Stress
-IUDs occasionally cause slight spotting
-Injury to the vagina from insertion of objects, from malignant cancers, or from vaginal infections
-Certain drugs such as anticoagulants
-Vaginal dryness
-GYN procedures such as CONE biopsy or cervical cauterization

Cramping is not always necessary for there to be something wrong, but this whole issue is something that needs to be discussed with a doctor. You can never be too careful with your body :)
