Hi all,
Can anybody tell me how to do chat at the net work by using windows?

I'm not sure if there is a utility in windows for it anymore, but you can still do it from command prompt.

If you need to know how to get to command prompt, click Start, Run, type in cmd, and hit enter. It should bring up command prompt.

You can use either the name of the computer or the IP address of the computer to send the message.

While at command prompt, just type in Net send [name or IP of computer, without the brackets] "And put your message here (with the quotation marks, I believe, but if it doesn't work, try it without them)"

And that should do it.

Common firewalls and NATs preclude this from working... It works "ok" for local nets (LANs).

Try AIM (AOL), Yahoo Messenger, or MSN... There are others, but these are the big boys for internet chatting/messaging.
