    Stolen laptops questions.
    OK here goes I've had two laptop stolen both were dell xps m140.. I have asked hundreds of sites on the topic and can't seem to get a for sure answer.. ive been told they can be found I've been told they cant, all they have to do is do is a os redo and wipe everything as long as they don't get it fixed there OK.. then I'm told they can track them threw ips providers then I'm told no.. so what is the deal could anyone snswer it I hope so I'm mad as he** but them being stolen if I'm beat id rather someone just tell me give up there gone.. chains on the next one I guess or ill get a big rottie.. lol thanks so much steve :(

    The only info the laptops might give out over the internet is their MAC address (of the network card/chipset) and Dell would not traack this information.

    Maybe you need to secure them better. Theree are tools that will track a stolen laptop, but they have to be installed first.

    Try securing your laptop better and insuring it.

    Well seems there gone so ill give uo on them and the next one will be insuraer and something installed for security as stratmando says yes this helps thank you
