    Test During Pregnancy
Hi I just wanted to know what all test are done during Pregnancy and when? I mean which week of the pregnancy . When exactly should be the prenatal visit and what all things should be asked during the Doctor meet because my Doctor called me for my first prenatal visit after I complete my 12 week. I had my u/s done in my 7 week and we saw the baby's heartbeat and then my doctor said everything is normal and that's it she called me when I finish with my 12 th week.

At your first prenatal visit your should have blood work and give a urine sample. I had my prenatal visits every four weeks, up until I was 36 weeks, and then I had them every week.

At 10-12 weeks you can have your Cystic Fibrosis screen.

At around 20 weeks you can have your ultrasound that will find the baby's size, maybe update your due date, and possibly find out sex.

At 28 weeks you get tested for Gestational Diabetes.

At 36 weeks you get tested for Group B Streptococcus.

Thanks a Lot . But my first prenatal visit is when I finish with my 12 week so the Blood Work n Cystic Fibrosis screen will be done on the same time? Coz one of my friend had her blood work[OB/Gyn workout] n everything done as soon as doctor confirmed her pregnancy i.e in her 6th week itself.

I also had my bloodwork done between 6 and 8 weeks. I have never heard of a doctor putting it off, but every doctor's methods are different. 10-12 weeks is when the Cystic Fibrosis is done, so you should have that done at your first prenatal visit, along with your blood work.

That isn't that new, and is usually done in your general ultrasound to look for problems, size, due date, and possibly sex.

I have actually never heard of an ultrasound being done at 13 weeks, and I didn't think the baby was developed enough to even tell. But I don't know, could be possible I guess.. lol

I went to my doctors appt at 11 weeks she then informed me that it was a new thing that they are doing now they still measure at your 20 week but she said they have found ways of measuring the bones of a 13 week baby to test for signs of DS.
She said it was a new one and my daughter is almost two and they didn't do that when I was pregnant with her.
Either way it doesn't bother me at least I get to see the baby at 13 weeks.

That is a good idea because I don't think the Cystic Fibrosis can be done after 12 weeks. I missed it with my first son and they wouldn't do it after 12. :)

Wow it must be really new. I just gave birth in April and I didn't have it done with that pregnancy.

It is very new she said their office started doing it about 3 months ago.
But she said they now offer it to everyine at 13 weeks.
I'm not sure if they do it that early so that if some don't want to continue with the pregnancy because of the chances of DS found but to me it wouldn't matter. A baby is a baby...
