Am I Pregnant?

Okay... a couple of weeks ago, I went to the doctor because I have this horrible pain in my stomach that feels like its always completely empty, he gave me a pregnancy test and it came out negative, but he said it could still be too early to tell. He gave me some pills to see if I had a bladder infection or not... it has been two weeks since I started taking these pills. I still have the pain in my stomach(its mostly around from the bladder and goes all the way up to my stomach below my breasts) I'm on birth control, but I missed it on accident for four days(I'm not very good at remembering things) I also just got my period, although it was really light and only lasted four days, a friend of mine had her period for the first two months of her pregnancy. I have also had horrible mood swings everyday, I have a heightened interest in sex, I will be happy one minute, crying the next, and angry the next. I'm so confused. Also my breasts are feeling more sensitive than usual.

My question is, What are the early signs of pregnancy? And has anyone else had these problems and were'nt pregnant, I do not want to worry my boyfriend about this, so before I say anything to him, I want to know I'm not over-reacting

I am assuming the doctor gave you a urine test, right? The best way to detect pregnancy is ask your doctor for a quantative blood test. These tests are very accurate.

The symptoms you have described can be symptoms of pregnancy, but they can also be symptoms of other things as well. :)

You sound like you have early signs of pregnancy however when you miss pills it can really mess up your cycle. Not to mention you are now on other meds. I would grab a home pregnancy test and test your first morning urine. If you don't want to get pregnant and have trouble remembering to take the pill I would find another method of birth control.

I agree. Or set yourself an alarm for the same time every day that will remind you to take your pill :)

Yes, a urine test. I have also gained weight... one size... but I don't think that can happen in a early pregnancy can it? I thought maybe if your tiny, but I'm a size 7(canadian) well... a nine now... maybe I'm just gaining weight cause I'm stressed?? I don't know... its so confusing..

I have an alarm on my cell phone that goes off... I just don't always remember to put the pills in my purse before I leave my house...

When you miss a couple of birth control pills in a month, like jrb252000 said, it throws off your whole cycle. It also causes the birth control to not be as effective, or not effective at all. There is a chance you could be pregnant, yes. But pregnancy symptoms are the symptoms of other things as well.

Weight gain could be due to water retention, which is a symptom of PMS. Mood swings and breast sensitivity can also be linked to PMS. The best thing for you to do, is request that blood test from your doctor.

In most pregnancies the weight doesn't become an issue this early. If you are stressed it can disturb your cycle as well. A urine test should be accurate now however if you want to play it safe go have blood drawn...

I used to leave the pills out by my toothbrush so every night or morning I would take it...

If it comes out negative, the problems you are having are more than likely due to you skipping a couple of pills. :)

Good NEWS!! It was negative:) But he told me to come back in a couple of weeks for another one:( what does that mean? That's two in a month and I need another one?

Yay! He just wants to be sure you are not pregnant before he takes other steps in finding out what is wrong with you. If you need medication, he doesn't want to give it to you before knowing positively that you are not pregnant. It's a precaution. :)

All of the answers for this question are very good. I would just like to add that I went up a size my first month of pregnancy. Some women bloat quite a bit during the beginning. The stomach pain is common for implantation cramping. I would be concerned, however, if this continues. If you have been pretty loyal to taking your birth control for a while and just missed a pill (hey we all do it! That's how I got preggos) it may just be your body reacting to the missed pill. Please check the date of the thread before responding. This thread is from 2007. If the OP was indeed pregnant then the baby has already been born and this advice is no longer needed.

I am having the same prob kind of as she is.. I have been trying to have a baby since October 15th and that month my period came on time and only lasted for like 3-4 days.. it usually last for 7-9 days and it really heavy that time it was really light and it was a brownish color twards the end of the period.. my husband and I have been trying everytnight or every other night and for the last few days I have been having cramping and twards the night time I can't stay awake and I feel sick but nothing to make me run to the bathroom.. I have taken 3 test all negatine.. I know I tested too soon but since my last period did not last long I thought I could test now.. the next one should be aqround the same time as the last.. I have never been late or diffferent about the period as the last one.. do you think I coulld be pregnant and if so how long would I be for this to happen to me??
