Hi! This is going to be a little long, but bear with me, as I am trying to give the best possible background info. In order to find answers to these questions.
I am 27, married and have 2 young children. I have had the Mirena iud for almost 2 yrs. Now. I was not having any periods, and then about 6 mo. Ago, started having them with regular bleeding and cramping again, but it does not come at the same time every month (usually early or late by up to 2 weeks.)

My last period began June 24. I had light spotting July 10th and cramping (without spotting) on the 11th. Doc. Said this could be from the iud hormones. I went in for an annual exam on the 17th, and the doc. Could not find my iud strings, so I had to go in the next day (the 18th) for ultrasound. The results revealed that my iud is in place and also that I have 2 cysts on my right ovary- the largest being 4.5 c.m. I have to go in for another u.s. in 6 weeks to check on it. The ultrasound also revealed that my uerine lining was thin, as it should be with the iud. Meanwhile, I have been feeling tons of pregnancy symptoms, including heartburn, belching, frequent urination, tired all the time,backache, can't sleep- wake up a lot, thirsty all the time ( this only happens when pregnant), etc. I know the chances of getting pregnant on an iud are slim, but I am still concerned. I was supposed to start my period on the 24th, but I cannot rely on that since I am not regular. On the 25th, I had mild cramps for a few hours and started spotting that evening- very light pink and only shows up when I wipe, and not even there every time. I thought for sure I would start my period the next day, but it didn't come, only more light spotting late in the evening. This has continued through today- the 27th. I know that the iud releases progesterone (the same hormone the body produces during pregnancy), but if this spotting that I am having is considered to be my period, would'nt I stop feeling these pregnancy symptoms, as in essance, my progesterone levels should have dropped? Could I instead be having implantation bleeding? Could the cysts have anything to do with any of this? An hpt has come up negative, however, in past pregnancies, positives did not show up until I was at least a week late. I am hoping to find out as soon as possible, as the risk of etopic is higher if I am pregnant with this iud. Unfortunately I don't have insurance, and doctor bills these days are getting super expensive, so I hate to go pay more to have a blood test done. Any ideas or answers to these questions? Not to scare you but I got pregnant with the IUD when it had been in for about 2 years, my doctor could not find my strings when I went in to get it checked out.
