    Ibs and birth control
Hello... I had a doctor recently diagnose me with IBS and I have noticed during my cycle it usually flares? I was wondering if anyone else with this condition has tried birth control as a means to control the symptoms. I really don't want to go on birth control but having PMS symptoms and IBS symptoms at the same time is making me miserable. Thanks

I would think the reason your IBS flares up during your cycle is because of the increase in hormones. Birth control does regulate both your cycle and your hormones. It might help your IBS. But talk to your doctor and see if he/she has any other suggestions as to what you can do.

I also have IBS and I decided to go on birth control. I didn't like the pill so I was put on the injection. To be honest with you, it has not affected my IBS but everyone is different
