    Dogie bladder
Our five year old miniature schnauzer seems to have a bladder control problem. He will wet on the furniture in his sleep and then jump up realizing what he has done. I need to know if this is a medical condition that needs to be checked out by a vet or if this is normal. He shows no other symptoms and is eating and playing as usual. Thanks for your help.

Pat, you didn't mention if this is something that began recently or he has had this problem his entire life. In any event, it is definitely time to bring him in to the vet's office for an examination. This is not a training issue. If this has occurred recently, it probably is something as simple as a bladder infection that can be cleared up with medication. If this is something that has occurred his entire life, it may be a genetic defect that can be corrected through surgery. The only way to know for sure what exactly is going on is having a vet examine him. Please let us know how he is doing.

Yes, even those thing that really look like a training problem should start with a vet check.
