Dual Citizenship for America and France
I am interested in obtaining a dual citizenship. I was born in france to a french mother.
She has since become an American citizen but also has dual citizenship. I am interested in obtaining dual citizenship status also. Could you please tell me what documents that are required to do so, and how do I proceed from here.

    Thank you

If one of your parents was a US citizen at the time your were born, then you may be able to make a claim of US citizenship. If not, then your mother will first have to sponsor you for US residency. Once you have been a US resident for 5 years, you will be eligible to become a US citizen, and will then be a dual citizen holding both US and French nationality.

You should contact the french embassy as they can avise you what you to do and what documents you need... You were born in france so you may already be a french citizen... I was born in US and raised in US (Brooklyn,NY) but because my parents were born in ireland, I am automatically an irish citizen... My two daughters had to do a little more work in applying but not much... If you get your french passport, you will be able to live, own property, start a business, and work in any EU country as we are... If you choose to stay and live in france, then you can apply for french citizenship which should be easy for you as you were in fact born there... I love france and still speak decent french since I was number one in high school but since then have learned spanish and also Portuguese as I intend to retire in brazil or panama... Bonne Chance!

It's depends on how your mother obtained US citizenship... you may already have US citizenship as dependent of your mother. Please provide more details...

How did she obtain US citizenship? Married to US citizen, or Employment based visa, or Diversity visa, etc.
When? And at that time, how old were you?

    This is easy case....

    I4M FRENCH
If you are born in France, you are french. You must, ask citizenship, writing to the town's birth. Mayor's town make to you French Identity card. (Carte nationale d'identité).
