    Kenmore Washer abrubtly stopped working
I have a kenmore washer that my wife and I got brand new about 2 and a half years ago. All of a sudden the machine will not advance beyond filling the washer with water. After the water fills to the appropriate level nothing else happens! I have tried it on every cycle type and water level and nothing will happen after the washer fills up. I would suspect the belt but I do not hear the motor trying to turn or anything. My wife did laundry on thursaday and it worked perfectly, then I tried on Saturday and the problem surfaced. Very frustrating and inconvienient!

    The model number is : 110 24642300

Any assistance would be greatly apprieciated.

    Thank You.

Is the timer motor running? The units motor is not running? I would check that.I believe that is a direct drive. There is coupling between the motor and the transimmision.

Hmmm... not sure if the timer motor is running but when I took the machine apart the lid switch casing was separated. I am hoping that this is the issue I am going to get a new lid switch after work today.

As far as the timer motor how would I tell if it was running or not? Would the cycle knob continue advancing or would there be a sound from it? Then again I suppose if the lid switch wasn't functioning it would be hard to tell if the timer was working. I'll just replace that and go from there.

    Thanks for the response.

You can hear the timer motor running and timer will advance as well.If the lid switch is sperated, replace it. That could be your problem.

Mine does the same thing and if I push on the inside hinge things on the lid and then bang the lid down several times pushing in different spots, it will start working again. I think it is the part that senses when the lid is down on mine. Hope this helps temporarily

Check the plunger on the lid switch and make sure it moves in and out freely. If that is problem, replace the lid switch

Kenmore washer stopped spinning [ 11 Answers ]

My Kenmore washer, model# 417.99686210, has stopped spinning. It runs through the rest of the cycle, OK. It still agitates, indicating the motor is OK, but when it comes to the spin cycle, nothing. It fills with water and drains. If anyone can help, that would be most appreciated. Thank you.

Washer stopped draining and working [ 2 Answers ]

Today my washer stopped working. It stopped on the spin cycle and it never drained. Now I have a washer full of clothes and water. I tried to think of all the logical explinations and I reset the fuse, I checked for kinks in the drain hose and I checked to see if any clothes were stuck in the drain...
