Hello. I didn't really know exactly under what subject to post this so I hope this isn't the wrong one.
There's something that happened to me when I was like in second grade, which I think it's weird... I don't know about you guys.
Ok I used to get to school a little early, so not many kids were not around when I got there. What I would do to kill time was to play with the tetherball chain and throw it around its post. But this one day, I went as usual, throwing the chain around. I could see there was only this other kid besides me. He wasn't too distant from where I was but he seemed to be minding his own business playing by himself. Then... the next thing I know is that I was getting up off the ground being semi-conscious because I had my eyes closed and everything was just blank. Sort of like if I had been sleeping and was waking up. But what I don't get is that as I was getting up, with my eyes closing barely waking up from a state of unconsciousness, I was grabbing the chain with my hand even though I was literally getting up off the ground.
Maybe I had a concussion or something but how could I be unconscious, getting up off the ground with my eyes still closed, and yet holding the chain which is a few feet above the ground?? Well then the next thing was that I noticed that the kid was just staring at me with his eyes peeled as if he got scared or something. After that I noticed my head was hurting and then I noticed the lunch room was opened and there were more kids there. So I went over to the lunch room and on the way I encountered a girl that asked me something about the day before and I couldn't remember neither the girl nor the event she mentioned. Then at class, for some reason I just couldn't remember what the word America was.
But I remembered those things though... it was just weird though... perhaps it was just a concussion, but I really do not remember the chain hitting me and my headache was all over my head... no spot where it hurt like as to say the spot where the chain could've hit me on the scalp.
Ok to end this story already... have any of you ever experienced something similar?? Any logical and/or at least fantasies to what could've happened here??

I have lost consciousness 2 times in my life.
Each time, as I was regaining consciousness, things didn't seem
To appear as they really were.

I'm Irish. I have never lost consciousness in my entire life. Sounds like fun though.

I have only experienced losing consciousness once. I was about 15 and had some sort of illness. I passed out in my bathroom. When I came to, I did not experience any memory loss.

I suspect what happened to you was that you hit yourself with that chain, which either knocked you out or off balance, and you hit your head on the ground. I think you did suffer a concussion. The fact that you don't remember what happened or getting up and reaching for the chain, your head hurt as it did and you were experiencing memory loss during that day, are signs of a concussion. The brain is amazing in the way it interprets events. It isn't surprising that your memory has pieced it together in a more acceptable way, filling in the missing gaps, even though it doesn't make much sense to you.

Have you experienced any other memory loss since that time? Did you tell your parents about what happened?

I seriously was still partially unconscious and eyes shut when I was reaching for the chain.
Well anyway, no other signs of memory loss, at least due to that event. And yes I did tell my parents, they didn't say much.

You may have had a seizure. That would account for the pain in your head all over instead of in just one spot, and the temporary memory loss.

Meterre, what do you "mean no other signs of memory loss, at least due to that event"? Have you experienced any memory loss or confusion at ANY time after that event besides what you described?

I am surprised your parents didn't say much. Any particular reason why no one suggested a trip to the hospital or doctor's office, for some x-rays or tests, to make sure everything is okay?

I don't know, but as a kid, I didn't think much of that back then either. Can't say why my parents didn't either. Perhaps they didn't believe me or something of didn't think it necessary to take any other action about it.
And as far as the memory loss, well I haven't had any memory loss other than just the normal type of being "forgetful." I know that to be true because of the depression I have found myself in. Which caused me memory problems. But the incident I talked about was so long ago, I don't remember if I did or didn't have any more similar episodes of temporary memory loss. See there you go, I am currently having one.:D

I didn't realize this incident was something that happened so long ago. You are right, depression does create forgetfulness. Are you doing anything (doctors/medication) to help you through the depression?

I've been helping myself and getting help from God. It's amazing how it starting to all get better, little by little.

Well, meterre, that is good to hear. Whatever works for you is the way to go. You might want to consider counseling sessions with a trusted minister/priest of your church. That can also be very helpful in the healing process.

And self help is pretty dam good too, especially since it means you co operate with the helping process.
